Color affection: done!

I have been talking about this shawl for such a long time, but knitting it has taken more time than I thought it would. It's the Color Affection, an amazing project by the super-talented Veera Välimäki.
It's been my longest project so far - and one of the few finished ones actually - and it's been some kind of zen experience for me.
It has taught me patience. And also how to block a finished piece.
So...here it is while blocking

I improvised the blocking with what I had at home
It's a bit smaller than I thought by looking at other people's pics. And I followed the pattern and got this weird shape, which I absolutely adore and makes it even better to wear

I am so proud ^_^ and will definitely make another one...sooner or later.

Never ending drilling

No, I am not talking about drilling beads or pebbles. Nothing jewelry related.
It's just wherever I go, the sound of drills follows me - looks like buildings renovations are all over Italy.
And always next to where I live.

The weather is still not too hot, thanks to the strong wind blowing all over, but that means it is almost impossible to stay on a beach.
So I got back beading and making experiments.
By now all I can show is this

a mixture of colors and stones I really love. I'll have some new pieces really soon...in the meanwhile I am knitting hard to finish this shawl and I'm almost there.

Last minute knitting

As usual in this part of the year I realize spring is coming and I don't have much time to finish my knitting with wool. So I pick up 3, 4 projects at the same time trying to use up my stash.

Of course I never finish any.
This time I decided to try and make an amazing shawl, Color Affection by Veera Välimäki

My version is grey and mustard and features a mix of cotton and wool.

Even though we had 3 summer days, with crazy high temperatures, rain came back and cooled down any desire for tank tops and shorts. Back to padded jackets. So I might have a chance to actually wear this work of art before the real summer comes.
